About Kenny Lloyd Angon

Kenny Lloyd Angon is a passionate peace educator from Davao City, Philippines with more than 15 years of experience in teaching and capacity building of various sectors both in academic and non-academic settings. Kenny is highly committed in engaging with local and international stakeholders in developing meaningful collaborations which supports the project conception, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of needs-responsive interventions for communities in the Philippines especially in Mindanao and its neighbors in the ASEAN. Ken is a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) who upholds Youth Empowerment through various initiatives being implemented by the NGO he co-founded in 2011, the Mindanaoan Youth Development Center (MYDC), Inc. which focuses on Good Governance, Environmental Sustainability, Intra and Interfaith Dialogue and Peacebuilding as well as the Promotion of Culture and Traditions of Mindanao. He is also a council member of the Young Mindanao Professionals for Peace (YMPP), a network of youth leaders who were trained in Hiroshima, Japan under the Hiroshima Peacebuilding and Capacity Development for Bangsamoro in Mindano (HIPEC-BM) Hiroshima Essential Training (HET) of Hiroshima University, Hiroshima Prefecture and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Maximizing his experience in the teaching profession, he leads in the conduct of initiatives towards promotion of peace and preventing violent extremism (PVE) through Curriculum Development and Integration. In fact, he facilitated the development of the Salaam: Spirituality of Service Peace Education Module which was considered by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the inclusion of Peace Education in the revised National Service Training Program (NSTP) Curriculum.Currently, he serves as the Deputy Executive Director of the Al Qalam Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in Southeast Asia of the Ateneo de Davao University, the primary office in the university providing opportunities for the Ateneo Community to engage in efforts towards Sustainable Peace and Development.Being a Catholic of Indigenous People decent working in an Islamic Institute, engaging in Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue is almost a daily endeavour. This opened various opportunities for him including his engagements with the International Dialogue Centre - KAICIID which led him to leading the establishment of the Youth in Interreligious Dialogue Network, Southeast Asian Youth for Humanity (SEA Y4H) in 2023.
