Fall co-op at the JPL. The Deep Space Network contains three Deep Space Communications Complexes (DSCC's) around the world. They are at Goldstone, California, USA (GDSCC), Madrid, Spain (MDSCC) and Canberra, Australia (CDSCC). These are the sites where the large dish antennae are used to communicate with out spacecrafts in deep space (interestingly defined to be anywhere farther than the moon). Workers at these complexes have been using a software to schedule maintenance activities on the antennae for several years now, but this software is becoming quite outdated, and no maintenance is being done on it. At JPL, a new software for DSN scheduling is being developed, and my project is to extend this application to allow for the scheduling and editing of maintenance activities on the antennae.

At MPS I researched how asteroseismic parameters are affected as a star passes through the red giant bump during its ascent of the red giant branch. I used MESA stellar evolution code to generate stellar models which I then used as input to ADIPLS, a stellar pulsation code, to perform asteroseismic analyses.

Many differences were expected, so we made it possible to configure the software so that it would ignore certain differences, so that the users would only be looking at differences they care about.The software was developed in Javascript using node.js.
