I am an entrepreneurial, results-driven professional with a unique blend of public and private sector experience. My decades of work span working with multinationals, U.S. & foreign governments, non-profit organizations, and small business start-ups. As I transition from government to industry, I am poised to continue identifying strategies to tackle complex organizational challenges and support a broader range of critical missions in the public and private sectors. I served as the SES Deputy CIO of Business Management and Planning (acting) of Diplomatic Technology at the Department of State and I.T. Comptroller with responsibility over the CIO's $1.3B I.T. budget and oversight responsibility for a $3.8B global I.T. portfolio servicing a 90K person workforce operating in over 200 countries. Before this position, I was the State Department Chair at the DoD National Defense University, College of Information & Cyberspace, educating emerging U.S. & foreign government officers in information and cyberspace strategies. My public sector career includes serving as the CIO at the DHS's Science & Technology Directorate, the Chief Architect at the Bureau of Economic Analysis at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the eCommerce Strategist at the US Export-Import Bank. My private sector experience is equally extensive, spanning finance, government relations, and information systems management in the banking, aerospace, and commercial electronics industries. I also served as an international economic development consultant, running trade, investment, and small business development assistance programs in Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa. This diverse experience has given him a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing small and medium-sized firms working globally. My commitment to continuous learning is a cornerstone of my professional journey. I hold a number of graduate degrees including, Science & Technology Policy, Information Systems & Technology, International Affairs, International Management, and International Development. I also have certificates in Asian Studies, International Political Economy, and CIO/CTO Innovation.
