The Fiber & Backhaul Solutions team finds solutions for all required connectivity popping up at our external and internal customers. These are for instance the customers of Telenet Business enjoying our services via the vast fiber network of Telenet, or the mobile subscribers accessing the radio network thanks to the access sites which can be connected by means of fiber, by microwave solution or ultimately via a leased line from another operator.The team builds and controls these solutions and defines the extensions to the network to fulfill the ever-growing demand of bandwidth with the best compromise between costs, implementation time and quality requirements.The design is based upon guidelines from engineering translated to the operational reality and defining how solutions should be established and in the end built by the subcontractors.We're responsible for designing these connectivity solutions (fiber) and their extensions to fulfill the project and customer-demands by considering the implementation deadlines, the capacity needs, the costs requirements and to cooperate with the subcontractor for the execution of said solutions.

Norkring Belgium is a young, dynamic and innovative media company with offices in Antwerp, Shoten and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. Since March 2009, Norkring Belgium manages the transmitter sites in Flanders and Brussels. Norkring Belgium therefore has its own broadcasting infrastructure with approximately 30 sites in Flanders and Brussels and is a full-service provider for wireless digital TV, radio and other applications. We take care of the radio (FM and DAB) and digital TV broadcasting (DVB-T) for e.g. VRT. We make our infrastructure available to other parties for co-location and we can provide live and localized broadcasts such as reports, sporting events or concerts.

Working remote from medium scale Belgium testlab, provided quality and functional tests in a EMEA(DVB)-flavoured setup to support California and India based development teamProducts tested were focussed on Digital Video Processing with features like MPEG-2 recoding, DVB support, transrating, DPI, redundancy,... (models DM3200, DM6400, BP5100, CP7600).Operated a medium scale but fully equipped testlab in order to create end-to end setups, hardware involved: analysers, encoders, decoders, IRD’s, modulators (DVB-C/S/S2/T), SetTopBoxes, Ad-server, TVs, streamers, servers, network switches (Cisco/Foundry/D-link), DiSEqC matrix, motorised satellite antennas.Evaluated software specs and wrote prioritised testplans including step-by-step test designs.Evaluated new software according to testplan while monitoring and troubleshooting setups. Debugging, analysing, regressing and logging if required in order to write detailed bug reports. (used analyzers: Tektronix MTS420, Adherent, Dektec, Ineoquest, TSReaderPro, VLC, TSAnalyzer, Wireshark, Mprobe, Interra).Create process documents on new features and equipment.Provide customer when possible support to uphold and strengthen relations with European customers.Prepare demo-units (hardware+software) and arrange PLA and shipment.
