For more than 10 years, Ken was an MVS (z/OS) Systems Programmer, specializing in Capacity Planning and Performance Analysis at three large Arizona based financial services companies. Ken performed the day-to-day tasks of Systems Programming, Capacity Planning, Performance Tuning, Technology Planning and Executive Level Decision Support. Ken was directly responsible for installing and supporting IBM and ISV system software. He was responsible for ensuring system performance, capacity reporting, forecasting and planning for 64 MVS LPARS, spread over 12 Sysplex systems, located in Arizona, California and Oregon. The server environments consisted primarily of IBM, Hitachi and Amdahl mainframes. Storage subsystems included IBM, HDS, EMC DASD and STK automated tape libraries. The software operational infrastructure included IBM/S390 (z/OS), VTAM/NCP, CICS, TSO/ISFP, IMS and DB2. Ken is well versed in the use of TIVOLI OMEGAMON, MICS, MXG, SAS, BMC Performance Predictor (formerly BEST/1), VISUALIZER and all RMF Monitors. Ken's programming experience includes z/OS Assembler, SAS, MXG, MICS, TSO/Clists and BASIC.Ken received industry recognition by serving on the Computer Measurement Group’s (CMG) US Advisory Council for two consecutive years, and was also CMG Regional Chair for the Phoenix chapter two years.While working at National Advanced Systems (transistioned to HDS), Ken was the Rocky Mountain District Capacity Planning Specialist.
