About Kenneth Ramirez
Kenneth was born and raised in East Los Angeles and his community service work and education has taken him all across the country. Kenneth attended East Los Angeles College before transferring to UC Santa Barbara where he majored in English Literature and received his B.A. Kenneth has worked in challenging positions for nonprofits like the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund where he did national and local fundraising. In 1999 Kenneth was one of 30 participants selected nation wide to enter into the National Urban Fellowship. This next phase in his life moved him to New York City where he entered an intense sixteen month Master’s Program in Public Administration and ended with a position at the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region in Washington D.C. As a Senior Program Officer for The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region he oversaw the Washington Area Partnership for Immigrants and the Initiative to Strengthen Neighborhood Inter-Group Assets. Having spent four years on the East Coast, Kenneth was ready to come home to California where he worked as the Director of a Title V Cooperative for the Los Angeles Community College District. It was Kenneth’s job to oversee a three million dollar capacity building grant. Kenneth moved to Sonoma, CA in the Fall of 2006 to head Vineyard Worker Services and work on housing and advocacy issues for migrant workers. In 2011 His fondness for his hometown brought him back to Los Angeles where he has been working with nonprofits throughout California on advocacy, development, fundraising and all around problem solving for organizations that resonate with his commitment to community service.
