At Fluxx, I co-led a team of 10 software engineers that owned Grantmaker, the flagship product. This highly customizable web app managed the end-to-end granting process for 7 of the 15 largest private philanthropic foundations in the United States.I also led a team of 5 software engineers in the internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) of the Grantmaker software. In addition to i18n/l10n, we also built the capability for professional translators to translate text from grant applications. The successful, on-time completion of this project allowed Fluxx to start expanding its client base globally.Additionally, I owned the development of add-ins for Excel, Word, and Outlook, which integrated with Grantmaker and allowed users to customize data exports (Excel), automate the process of generating grant documents (Word), and upload email attachments directly to Grantmaker.I built single sign-on (SSO) integrations with Okta, Google, Azure, and PingFederate, using SAML and OAuth/OIDC.I also upgraded a web service from Play 2.1 (8 years old) to the most recent version of Play Framework, while implementing functional tests, resulting in no bugs reported.I primarily wrote code in Ruby and JavaScript, but I also owned projects written in C#, Java, and Python.

As a full stack web developer at a small company, I learned how to quickly adapt to multiple roles:ROLE A: WEB DEVELOPER- Designed and implemented system for clients in California to allocate and report attendance for over $282,000,000 in after school grants- Customized and expanded web application to fulfill needs of over 300 clients, focusing on writing fast, secure, and easily-maintained code. Clients ranged from single schools to citywide organizations- Built report generators that helped clients correlate attendance to outcomes and fulfill federal/state/local funding requirements, while avoiding hours of error-prone manual calculations- Developed and executed process to deduplicate person records, using Double Metaphone phonetic algorithm and comparing Levenshtein edit distances, allowing clients to report more accuratelyROLE B: SYSTEM/DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR- Created and maintained robust jobs to automate the import of student records from 44 school districts totaling 2.3 million students, including Chicago Public Schools, San Francisco USD, and Oakland USD- Coordinated and executed migration of all 15 production databases totaling 1 TB of data to new server.
