In eleven years of teaching, I have developed many skills that have helped me everyday as a teacher. My presentation skills, conflict resolution skills, and my ability to develop relationships with my students have been the most useful to me. I present information daily to my students and I use a variety tools to create my presentations. I have used PowerPoint, Google Slides, Handouts created on Word Documents, and demonstrations. I have also incorporated Youtube videos, websites, mobile apps, and highlighted current events in my presentations. There are endless amounts of tools and methods that are out there to enhance any presentation, but I have found the most effective way to present information to any audience is to identify how to make the information useful and relevant to them.Conflict resolutions skills are a must for any teacher, and I have had my share of experiences to refine my skills. I rely on good communication skills to prevent and address conflicts that occur. I have used emails, telephone calls, and face to face meetings to address conflicts. I practice being an active listener, and I always make it a point to get all perspectives involved. Throughout my career I have helped resolve countless conflicts between students. Relationship building is the key to having success as a teacher. I have built relationships with other teachers, administrators, parents, and students by setting expectations early and living up to those expectations. Setting expectations early helps build trust between all parties involved. I use course syllabi, parent meetings, facility meetings, open houses, telephone conversations, and emails to help me establish expectations and build trust.

I was blessed with the opportunity to coach football at Christian Academy of Louisville in 2012. This opportunity allowed me to work alongside highly knowledgeable coaches and coach high school athletes. I was hired as the linebacker's coach responsible for a set group of athletes. On a weekly basis, I was responsible for teaching, assessing, and motivating athletes in my position group. In order to be successful as the linebackers coach, I had to work closely with the defensive coordinator, head coach, and other assistant coaches. I used Google Docs to coordinate my practice plans with the defensive coordinator and head coach on a daily basis. I used the interactive football software, Hudl, to watch film in order to analyze practice sessions and to scout opposing teams. I also used Hudl to create practice scripts, opponent scout cards, and create playlists for players in my position group. My role as a position coach developed over the years. Over time through gaining trust of the defensive coordinator, by showing competence in my position, the defense, and our opponents, I was given more responsibility in game planning. This required more film analysis and communication with the other defensive coaches.In the five seasons I coached at Christian Academy of Louisville, we experienced tremendous success, winning the district title and making it into the regional finals in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2016, we won the district title and went on to win the first State Championship in school history.

I was hired by Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS) out of college. My role as a nutrition coordinator involved developing relationships with health teachers in the local school district and implementing nutrition education programs based on USDA parameters. My initial contact with teachers and school administrators was made through email and telephone conversations, then led to face-to-face meetings once I explained PACS' mission and services. During these face-to-face meetings, I explained in further detail the services PACS offered and methods used to teach nutrition in the schools. Together, we planned dates to implement lessons into that school. Once inside the school, I would administer pre-assessments, present nutrition lessons, and administer post-assessments. Most presentations involved a PowerPoint, group activity, and a demonstration. I used handouts for pre and post-assessments. Once a program was completed in a school, I would organize assessment results in Microsoft Excel to help analyze program impact and use positive results to set up more programs in the school.
