I have over 20 years experience in laboratory analytical procedures. I received my certificate for Cryptosporidium and Giardia detection, along with his certificate for Groundwater under the Direct Influence of Surface Water by Microscopic Particulate Analysis in 1994. I have training in Wellhead Protection, Water Systems Problems and Solutions, Mold Sampling and Identification, and Food Plant Sanitation. Kent was the Laboratory Director for 12 years at an environmental health laboratory. He wrote standard operating procedures, a QA/QC manual, and a safety manual. He also developed methods for detection of pathogens in food and isolation of pathogenic organisms from milk. In 2003 Kent started and developed the microbiological and food division for an environmental health laboratory out of Skagit County. Kent has consulted in writing and developing HACCP programs, food plant SOPs and plant inspections by third party accreditation. Kent collaborated in validation of EPA method 1681 and EPA method 1682, along with the “Evaluation of the Assurance GDS™ for E. coli O157:H7 Method and Assurance GDS for Shigatoxin Genes Method in Selected Foods”. He has also consulted on the differences in the detection of Cryptosporidium by EPA method 1622 and FDA BAM PCR detection. Current work includes the effects of a colostrum dietary supplement on Cryptosporidium inhibition and the reconstituting of Probiotic powders with proper isolation method for viable bacteria populations.
