I handle civil matters in federal and state appellate courts, and collaborate with trial counsel on motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, challenges to expert testimony, jury charges, and post-trial motions. I am board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law and have been recognized by Chambers USA, Chambers and Partners, in Texas for Litigation: Appellate.I currently serve as Chair of the Appellate Section of the State Bar of Texas and President of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (TACTAS), an organization of board-certified attorneys. I am a former chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the Houston Bar Association. I often advise clients regarding the chances of reversal in a potential appeal, drawing on my experience as co-author of an empirical study of the factors that most frequently result in reversal in the Texas appellate courts.
