Services include: computers, printers, scanners, and office supplies. As a Lab Assistant, I serve as a resource for the students when they have trouble with any of these services. I am also available to help them learn any of the programs available on the computers. I am expected to conduct routine daily cleaning and inventory, as well as walk around the computer lab to ensure the patrons know I am there to help.Training is also an important aspect of the job. Computer Lab Assistants are regularly trained on campus in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other software which is highly used and we anticipate questions about from patrons (among these is Qualtrics). This training has helped me develop highly marketable skills.

At the BYU Conference Center, I was in charge of all of the Audio and Video needs of conferences and presentations. From microphones to projectors or video/audio recording, I did it all. On a regular basis I was required to set up equipment and then instruct a presenter how to use it. Often I had to troubleshoot problems related to the different presenters computers and other equipment, along with a variety of other unexpected issues. I was also expected to conduct regular inventory of our equipment and completed a more exhaustive year end inventory report. My experience here taught me troubleshooting skills and technical skills. However, I feel the most valuable skills I learned while at the BYU Conference Center was People skills and Customer Service Skills.

Monitor servers and other computer networking equipment, report errors, receive instruction on what to do to fix minor errors, and do so. Also give instruction to others on what to do to fix minor errors. As well as working as a Technical Support for students using BYU.edu.

Aspen Grove is a Family Camp and Conference Center in Provo Canyon, north of BYU. During the summer months, it hosts a week-long period of time when families get together (often for large family reunions) for a vacation and lots of fun. As a maintenance worker, I dealt with customer's problems as well as preventative maintenance and improvatory maintenance on the equipment and activity areas of the camp. With one other co-worker, we reported to a manager who gave us several tasks throughout the day and we were responsible for completing those tasks as well as receiving and responding to several radio calls per day. I learned the ins and outs of basic facilities, which has been a great help in practical settings. Because of this job, I'm not afraid to get in a problem, figure out how it works, discover the problem, and fix it.

iPreserve (called Acentra at the time I worked there), is a company which converts old media into the current form of media in order to preserve its quality and facilitate its viewing and distribution. Old media can include VHS tapes, photographs, slides, 8 or 16 mm film, audio cassette tapes, etc. This is done mostly on a household scale for personal media. I was expected to learn and do all kinds of media conversion and deal with customers from acquiring them to billing them and everything in between. This job taught me a great deal about the different forms of media as well as customer service.

I received the job with Luis Vargas (founder of Midnight Productions) as a young teenager after coming in to visit with him (unprompted) about a job opportunity. I have skills in the video production area and wanted to utilize those skills in the industry. I also was DJ to several church dances on my own. However, my skills were mostly utilized in the video editing needs of Midnight Productions. This was my first real job.
