I’m most successful in positions that combine bits of community, copywriting, experiential marketing, brand ambassadorship, content curation, conceptual thinking, and art direction. I like jobs where I’m busy and where no two weeks are the same. Manage a blog calendar and write a bunch of posts? Great! Appear on a Facebook Live chat? Let’s do it. Plan a concept for an upcoming event? I’m on it. Speak to a group of 100 students, go off to a user meet-up, and return to the hotel to figure out how to ship our materials to the next event? I’d be glad to. Dig in to hand-assemble marketing materials? Of course.Yet I’m also strategic: analyzing customer data to identify new opportunities, finding new affinity partners, looking for trends, building an editorial calendar to match product roll-outs, creating a new brand strategy. In my spare time I’m a photographer, writer, and visual artist. I know a bit about fashion history, and a little more about art history.I’m currently looking for new opportunities that can combine a pretty good chunk of the above. Got one? Let’s chat.

Senior Copywriter, Brand TeamUdemy May 2018 - PresentSan Francisco, Ca, UsAt Udemy, I’ve built on my expertise at communicating with creator communities and taken on new challenges in direct-to-consumer marketing. This is what I’m proud of:I rebooted and shaped the voice of instructor marketing around an adventurous concept of “Teach on.” Then, during the Udemy rebrand and IPO, I created the messaging strategy and wrote all the content, so instructors would feel excited and hopeful about the changes. For our direct-to-consumer marketing, I pushed our messaging voice towards humor and humanism. While writing emails, ad copy, social assets, landing pages, video scripts, and so much more, I continued my work in experiential marketing. I created the messaging for events around the world, including booths featuring our partnership with McLaren Racing — as well as an ice-cream-themed pop-up outside of Dreamforce. I chose to learn about and specialize in accessibility and inclusive copy, always advocating for DEI in marketing. And I managed-up by presenting on topics like colorblindness in design, alt text, and unconscious bias in language. In everything I’ve kept my eye on thematic consistency, narrative cohesion, and the importance of the memorable moment. -

Marketing Manager & Brand AmbassadorBlurb May 2011 - Mar 2017Seattle, Wa, UsMy job was evangelizing about the beauty of Blurb books, print + e, through blogging, social media, webinars, and events. The work combined man my passions: creativity, curation, and communication. When I wasn't working on events, I was managing our blog editorial calendar and working as the brand manager for MagCloud. Here's some of the cool stuff I've done:I grew our Twitter followers from 27k to 110k, Facebook from 30k to 100k. I started our Instagram too. I produced and appeared in numerous Blurb videos. I carried equipment and took B-roll too. I talked to creators and showed the possibilities of the brand through Facebook Live chats, Creative Live courses, photowalks, podcasts, and classes at places like the SFMOMA, London University of Art, and a TED Fellows Retreat. And I spoke to thousands of people a day at shows like Adobe Max, The InDesign Conference, DBW, The Food Book Fair, Society of Photographic Educators, and many more. I planned and executed events in the US, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and England.I was privileged to work with high-profile authors and groups to get their book projects going. -
