I led the "cross-border" negotiations for; the acquisitions of Instafile, LOCATE Inventory and the disposal of WorkflowMax. Within each of theses transacitons, I was heavily involved in end-to-end management of the deals: from sourcing => Initial assessment => Term Sheet negoiations => Due diligence => Sale and Purchase Agreement negoitiations => Transaction completionValuation/analysis:Along with setting up the approach to collecting and analysing information from TargetCo’s, I set up the foundation of the M&A team's approach to valuing SaaS companies. I built up a database of listed SaaS companies, which is used for benchmarking activities.Financial modelling:Financial modelling is a strength of mine, particularly financial modelling of SaaS companies. Applying for, and securing a development award to study at the London School of Business and Finance provided me the means and skillset to pivot from government department roles to corporate finance roles. I’ve not only built financial models and undertaken equity analysis, but I’ve also taught financial modelling, the majority of which has been targeted at SaaS companies.

The Ministry of Economic Development is one of the core agencies of the New Zealand Government and is tasked with fostering economic development and prosperity within New Zealand. As a senior member in the Energy Information and Modelling team I was involved in all aspects of the teams work, including strategic direction. The modelling component of this role included long-term econometric modelling of New Zealand future energy supply, demand and emissions production, Discounted Cashflow Analysis of future Crown revenue from royalties and taxes from New Zealand’s petroleum resource and cost-benefit analysis of capital intensive investment included cashflow valuation of coal-to-liquids investment options.
