Ken Thaxter is an accomplished and driven professional with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement. Mr. Thaxter began his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff for the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department in 1994, where he honorably served for six years. In his tenure there, he was a member of the Tactical Response Team, he was a Correctional Officer, and he also assisted the U.S Marshal's Service on numerous prisoner escort and watch assignments.In January 2000, Mr. Thaxter continued his law enforcement career with the West Bridgewater Police Department and honorably served for twenty years. His most notable assignments include D.A.R.E Officer, School Resource Officer, and Police Court Prosecutor. As an additional billet, Mr. Thaxter was assigned to the joint Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) of the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) as an on-call Operator and Crisis/Hostage Negotiator. He was attached to SEMLEC for nine years and responded to numerous calla for service in support of the twenty-eight local South Eastern Massachusetts communities.Mr. Thaxter earned his BS in Business Administration from Bryant University and his MS in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England University. Furthermore, he has attended numerous certified training academies and holds certificates in the Basic Police Officer Academy, Basic Reserve Police Officer Academy, and the Basic Correctional Academy all from The Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council. Additionally, as an Operator and Crisis Negotiator on a SWAT team, he has completed numerous high level tactical training courses from the TATSOR Special Operations Training Group. He also has received crisis negotiation training from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York Police Department. Mr. Thaxter has an extensive teaching background and holds instructor certificates in D.A.R.E, active shooter training, and situational awareness training. Mr. Thaxter has been heavily involved in school safety and education. Mr. Thaxter is dedicated to excellence in training the future group of tacticians that will protect the most prominent figures in our world. As an instructor for The Detail, he serves as a law enforcement subject matter expert and trains close protection agents, law enforcement personnel, and other protective services personnel in law enforcement procedures and techniques.
