With a career focused on industrial sales, my success has been due in large measure to my strong network of business relationships within the industry, an ability to troubleshoot complex product and operational challenges, and impeccable integrity.Most recently, I prepared Ohio Transmission Corporation’s Air Technologies business unit for acquisition. My primary challenge was transforming the unit’s sales force culture, as well as navigating COVID-related issues. National Oilwell Varco had acquired 2 companies right before I was hired as Regional Sales Manager, and there were considerable issues around culture, uncertainty, and plant closings. My strategic experience was key in restructuring and re-building the confidence level among customers, while also creating a plan for growth; my region tripled in revenue during my tenure. The biggest challenge I faced at Rexnord Industries was a loss of market share due to damaged relationships. By rebuilding relationships with the largest OEM accounts in O&G, I was awarded Rexnord’s highest recognition, the Circle of Champions, in 2015. At Parker Hannifin, I addressed the loss of market share due to inventory shortages by implementing a “rapid response” pilot program and executing an aggressive sales plan to regain the company’s place in the market. As a result, sales grew by 37% in just 9 months, and my success plan was subsequently implemented throughout the company. A turning point in my career was many years ago after leaving law enforcement. I went to work for a friend who owned a fluid power distributor. Although I did not have the product knowledge, my friend hired me because of my ability to deal with people. He saw that I was able to communicate and get people to believe and buy into Kent Hamilton. Outside of work, I have been involved in my community in coaching and supporting initiatives for the schools and public library systems.
