I moved from Taiyuan to Beijing in March 1996 after being offered a position with the Australian Embassy. My position involved providing senior Australian government officials with economic and political research, as well as assisting in the coordination of Australian ministerial visits to Beijing.

In early 1993, I was offered the position as Chief Representative of China Technology & Trade (CTT) as well as the Post Manager for the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), where I assisted in the opening and running of the Representative Office in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.
