I served as the Outreach Director for Florida's Water and Land Legacy Campaign during its signature gathering phase. This campaign's goal is to put a constitutional amendment on the November 2014 ballot to set aside documentary stamp excise funding for conservation and recreation land acquisition, restoration and management and protection of water resources.I directed outreach to cultivate, develop manage relationships with over 320 organizations including over raising over $29,000 to endorse and support the constitutional amendment. These organizations helped us recruit volunteers who gathered nearly 250,000 signatures over a period of 15 months to place the amendment on the ballot. Incorporated in 1964, the Florida Trail Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer organization that builds, maintains, protects, and promotes the 1,400 mile Florida Trail, one of only eight National Scenic Trails in the United States, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service. Our volunteers also build and maintain other trails on public land, known as the Florida Trail System. With 18 local chapters, FTA provides educational opportunities for people to learn to appreciate and conserve the natural beauty of Florida, as well as recreational opportunities for hiking and camping.

Responsibilities have included developing the statewide trails database and map series, coordinating the Commission's 150 Greenways Across Florida Celebration and advocating the conservation of greenways and trails to public officials and citizen organizations. Provided administrative and technical oversight for the Florida Greenways Program's regional greenway prototype projects. Between 1990 and 1992, directed the Successful Communities program which provided technical assistance and practical ideas to communities to conserve their distinctive resources.

Assisted state and local governments and private organizations in conserving river-related resources through the Rivers and Trails Conservation Assistance Program. Prepared natural, recreational and cultural resource assessments for the AuSable and Hoosic Rivers, and prepared a report describing the results of a landowner attitude assessment. Led a group of agency experts and recreational users in developing criteria for evaluating the river-related recreational resources of Connecticut's rivers. Assisted in the preparation of the report, A Casebook in Managing Rivers for Multiple Uses.

Prepared trail management/certification plans for the Florida National Scenic Trail in the Apalachicola, Ocala and Osceola National Forests and on South Florida Water Management District lands. Coordinated with state agencies and volunteers in establishing the Florida National Scenic Trail on state lands. Co-authored an article describing the Florida National Scenic Trail published in American Hiker magazine (January 1989).
