About Kenya O'Neill

Data Analyst currently enrolled in Thinkful's Data Analytics program where I am learning and fine-tuning my skills in Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Python in order to gain actionable insights from a wide variety of data sources. Excellent at the full range project cycle, which includes gathering business objectives, exploring and analyzing data, creating a working model, and presenting insights. My name is Kenya O'Neill, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I have always had a huge passion for collecting data, analyzing data, and using that data to improve existing systems. When I was younger, I used to keep records of everything. I have always been an avid reader, and when I was a child and came across a word that I did not know, I wrote the word down in my own homemade dictionary to keep track of new words and definitions. When I was in high school, my math teachers saw something in me that I did not. They always encouraged me to go into a mathematical field, but I felt those fields would not allow me to express myself creatively. When I was in college, I had my first Data Analytics internship - and still, I did not see the passion that was right in front of me.It was not until I started working in Education and I was completely surrounded by data that I realized just how much I love to look at data and come up with really smart decisions based off of what the data is telling us. I realized that Data Analysis not only allows me to utilize my logical and mathematical skills that I've naturally had from childhood, but also allows me to be creative in data storytelling and data visualizations. I am now looking to break into the Data Analytics field where I will be able to not only utilize my new technical skills, but also utilize my skills in diversity and inclusion efforts, problem solving, written and oral communication, and critical thinking. Connect with me if you are interested in diversifying the tech field, or if you just want to get to know me a little more!
