As a literacy tutor for Springfield College's Student Success Corps program, I served 450 hours providing early literacy interventions for preschoolers at Mason Square Head Start in Springfield, MA. I taught pre-schoolers skills such as picture naming, alliteration, rhyming, letter names, and letter sounds while progress monitoring them 3 times throughout the year to ensure that they were on the right track for Kindergarten.

The Partners Program is an inner city youth mentoring program. Springfield College partners with two local elementary schools to provide one on one mentoring to 80 youth. These youth are paired with a college partner to remain their mentor for the rest of the semester and ideally the entire year. As a site coordinator, I plan and implement activities for the children and college partners, supervise the 80 children and 80 college partners, and work closely with the elementary schools in order to help the children be successful.

Rick's Place provides bereavement support for children who have lost loved ones. As a facilitator I help children understand death and deal with grief. I facilitate activities that help the child remember and honor the person that has died.
