Starting off in the legal realm (involved in a technical capacity, but also dealing directly with lawyers and partners), my journey took me into the world of retail sales, which was daunting at first, but ultimately very fast-paced and extremely enjoyable. 95% good times.From there, a jaunt to the Land of Oz - working with marketers, travel agents and customers in a wonderful fishbowl of locals and expatriates. It was all over too quickly, before I picked up a proper accent.Back to Canada, and a four-year foray into the serious business of insurance, wielding not one, but two(!) licenses - Commercial P&C, as well as Life insurance. It can be tricky, selling something that people usually already have and are convinced they won't ever use (until they do, of course). Someone who was very good at it once told me, "you don't need to know anything about insurance to sell insurance." Taken literally, it seems counter-intuitive. But I certainly get it, now.All the while, I harbored an affinity for those machines that (depending on whom you ask) will inevitably render actual human thinking something of an anachronistic novelty: computers. Some might argue we're already there. At any rate, I spent a few intense years in the management & recruiting of IT talent, both as a hands-on trainer/resource manager, and a brief period as a dedicated recruiter.It was always about exploration, risk, and how to manage it. Sometimes, what seems like the work of entropy is actually carefully shaping your destiny. Endlessly fascinating, constantly evolving and relentlessly challenging, Cyber Security is the culmination of all of the above, for me.
