• Prepare complaints, interrogatories and answers, MDAs, motions, orders, and final decrees for divorces.• Prepare orders, motions, child support worksheets, and parenting plans for child custody and adoption cases.• Prepare and file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies through Best Case. File modifications, counseling certificates, and other necessary paperwork electronically through CM/ECF. • Prepare responses, questions for depositions, and other documents related to personal injury/ wrongful death cases. Research medical and drug facts. • Prepare motions, orders, TBI clearances, and other documents related to criminal cases.• Prepare wills.• Research case law with T.C.A., LexisNexus, and internet.• Answer phones, meet with clients, make appointments, set court and mediation dates, manage attorney’s calendar and e-mail. • Prepare and submit quarterly federal employment taxes and state unemployment taxes. Prepare and submit yearly federal unemployment taxes and create W-2’s.• Receive money from clients, pay office bills, and balance office bank account. Accomplishments:• Prepared questions for depositions, researched law and medical facts, prepared answers to a Motion to Dismiss, and prepared responses to a Statement of Undisputed Facts in a wrongful death case against Bedford County Jail (Doris Rollins, as next-of-kin, on behalf of Larry Byford, deceased vs. Bedford County, et al).• Organized 36 boxes of stored files and loose papers: recorded client name, case type and approximate date of completion in an Excel spreadsheet and stored the files in numbered boxes. • Switched all files to a color-coded file system. I• Organized all sample documents, notes, and legal information pertaining to different branches of law into binders. • Collected all paper contact lists, business cards, Rolodex cards, etc. and entered all information into MS Contacts.• Organized all computer files, restored lost files from backups, and implemented new backup system.
