I am a versatile and award-winning independent journalist, writer, and documentary filmmaker with over 25 years of experience informing, educating, and inspiring audiences to develop resilience and take effective action. Through narrative strategies, independent journalism, creative nonfiction, online writing classes, and selected mentorships, I explore restorative practices through the lens of multigenerational trauma and joy. Among my achievements is developing an award-winning docuseries and authoring a book for a global nonprofit highlighting community-based strategies to repair harm, restore relationships, and build social capital in Detroit, MI, and Kortrijk, Belgium. I am available for paid consulting opportunities to help communities build across sectors to implement restorative practices and tell effective narratives through digital and film storytelling to persuade key decision-makers. My current creative projects include "Return of the Black Madonna," a feature documentary, and "Water in My Bones," a memoir that chronicles my journey of ancestral reconnection through maritime archaeology. I am passionate about using narrative as a bridge to foster healing, hope, and connection in diverse communities. As an independent consumer finance journalist, I specialize in reporting on the intersection of politics and the economy, retirement savings, demystifying taxation, and advancing women's wealth strategies. My current portfolio is available on the GOBankingRates Author Page (https://www.gobankingrates.com/author/kbolton/)
