Instruction Librarian and Reference Assistant

Prepare and perform story times for preschool age children and their families. Research, order, and process materials appropriate for youth ages 0-18. Organize annual Summer Reading Programs including performers, reading contest, and prizes from donors. Main contact for patrons with eBook/eReader questions. Assist with circulation/reference desk.

Coordinated Appalachian Arts and Studies in the Schools Mentoring Program in which I helped to recruit 80 Radford University students to mentor 160 high school students from eight area high schools. Worked with the RU students throughout the year to encourage the HS students to consider college as an option, through letters, email, school visits, and visits to campus. Including multiple workshops with the students and teachers.

Worked as assistant to the Director of the Appalachian Regional Studies Center. Worked as a team to plan and advertise programs, conferences, and author visits to campus. Assisted with multiple budgets and grants. Organized and cataloged student oral history projects to be kept in the ARSC archives. Advised students and researchers in using the ARSC archives.
