Hi there and thanks for stopping by my page to learn more about me. I am originally from Manitoba but have lived in Toronto since 2020. I enjoy gardening reading, watching movies, pressing/framing flowers, and refinishing old furniture.Professionally, I am driven and passionate about helping those in need. I have my BSW and am currently working as a Career Case Manager with Building Up. In this role I support BU trainees as they address their barriers, explore trades pathways, and plan next steps to work towards their career goals in the trades. Through this work I have gained experience in advocacy and my primary goal is to ensure my trainees are set up for success as they move forward with their career goals. Before joining BU I worked as a Community Shelter Worker with Homes First Society. In this role I gained experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and helped them work towards a brighter future. This was done through advocacy, helping residents set goals, making referrals to supportive programming, assisting with filling out documentation, and coordinating supports with other professionals. I also have experience working with older adults experiencing cognitive and memory issues during my BSW placement at Eden Health Care Services in their Senior’s Mental Health Program. My skills include: Conducting Assessments, Report Writing, Case Management, Crisis Response, De-escalation, Resource Mapping,Career Planning, Advocacy, and Building Therapeutic Relationships with Clients. Some of my other strong capabilities include leading a small team to accomplish daily tasks to work towards a common goal. I look forward to continuing to gain experience working in social services. Within the next 5 years I hope to obtain my MSW to continue learning and improve upon my skills. The people I have worked with are impressed with my time management, attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to remain calm in crisis situations to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
