KERRIE MURPHYOriginally from Arizona, I have lived in the Atlanta area for over 25 years. Little did I know that the first company to recruit me out of college would one day be under my leadership. My initial position with Litra MFG was admin in nature, learning customer service, pricing, sales, and completing time-sensitive bid packages. While there, I developed an understanding of the firm and positioned Litra MFG as a small, certified, woman-owned business.I moved on to the real estate industry and honed my sales skills to eventually attain the President’s Club Award. While a Realtor, I was approached to return to the telecom industry to take an office management/inside sales position. This further developed my skillset in team leadership and sales. Working with the great people in the telecom world, it became clear that this was my career path. Over the next several years, I became a founding partner of Southeast Media Solutions. My duties included inside sales and utilizing my management skills to grow the company and increase market share.A few years later, my entrepreneurial spirit discovered a viable business opportunity to explore my passion for cooking and launch a catering business. Being familiar with companies that sponsored trainings like lunch & learns and business meetings, Food For Thought was born. Coming full circle, the owner of Litra MFG, my sister, Gigi, asked me to come back to work for her to improve sales and gain a deeper understanding of the business, so she could retire. Sadly, Gigi was diagnosed with an illness to which she succumbed within a short time. It was important to me to carry on with her plan so, I took on the role of President and CEO to move Litra MFG forward.
