I work as a chorus teacher through Brooklyn Music School's afterschool program: Arts Reaching Youth. I teach chorus class 4 times a week for two age groups, 5-7 and 8-12. Students are taught the basics of music literacy and vocal pedagogy through folk songs and popular music. Each semester culminates in a performance for each choral group. These classes have been adapted for and continue to occur during remote learning.

As music director of Brooklyn Music School's Saturday Musical Theatre Program, I teach the basics of vocal pedagogy and music literacy to the students through targeted warm ups, discussion and in-rehearsal exercises. I lead rehearsals for the choruses of each show as well as provide one-on-one coaching to the soloists in the ensemble. I work alongside the program's artistic director to create a cohesive curriculum for the semester which meets our production goals and the individual needs of our students. The program offers 2-3 musicals per academic year. I conduct the final production. This course has been adapted for and continues to occur during remote learning.

I taught the 7th grade chorus while at Marine Park IS 278. I worked alongside my cooperating teacher to create lesson plans that followed same goals as the school's other chorus groups while meeting the individual needs of the class. For the general music classes I did not teach, I actively participated in through managing behavior, assisting in small group instruction and material distribution. In chorus classes, I sang with various parts to assist with pitch learning, at times conducted the group and accompanied the ensembles on piano. I had the opportunity to both accompany and conduct portions of their Winter Concert in February. I also assisted my cooperating teacher with other daily tasks such as making copies, music organization, cleaning, etc.

I led a weekly rehearsal for a chorus consisting of both Oberlin Conservatory of Music voice students and congregation members. Each weekly rehearsal was in preparation for a weekly Sunday service. I worked alongside the church Pastor to program music for three concerts each year: a winter concert, a spring concert and a concert of showtunes titled "BUMC on Broadway." I conducted the group each Sunday and for all three yearly concerts.
