My primary responsibility is aiding the bank in decreasing overall non interest expenditure (NIE) across the Caribbean banking unit through strategic sourcing activity and implementation of lean management practices.I also provide advice to the group head on operational inefficiencies and opportunities for reducing expenses through prudent cost management. My lean management approach allowed our team to identify operations that are not as efficient or effective as they should be and devise strategies to "fix, replace or remove"​ these processes.I have also been working with cross functional groups to develop consensus on how to implement programs that would allow us to meet our NIE reduction targets. In the span of less than 2 years these programs allowed our team to achieve over USD$20MM in both cost reduction and cost avoidance all the while maintaining or increasing operational effectiveness and bettering the bank's efficiency ratio from ~0.80 to ~0.65.Our team also spearheaded several high level initiatives including our business process outsourcing program (BPO). These played a significant role in allowing the bank to move from a net loss in 2013 to net profit of USD$40MM and USD$110MM respectively in 2014 and 2015. These milestones were achieved by re-engineering processes, utilizing economies of scale where possible as well as implementing and enforcing best in class Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Analyse and invest in early stage, pre-seed companies, mostly in the MISS (Mobile, Internet, Search, Social) space. Our goal is to have 100 startups in our portfolio in 3 yrs. Members have agreed not to disclose the official size of the Fund.

The Regional Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for identifying high Opex and Capex spends with the prime directive being to cut costs in these areas and develop more efficient and effective operations. To achieve these objectives Strategic Sourcing leverages The Group's global presence and extensive branch network to ensure price transparency and create a competitive marketplace for goods and services provided to the bank. We use this information to put together "blanket" outsourcing arrangements and contracts that cover the entire Caribbean/Latam region through a competitive bidding process. This process allows the group to become a lean, more productive entity redounding to the benefit of clients by providing them with high quality customer service. The Group and its shareholders benefit as well from higher profits, better dividends and additional capital from cost savings that can be spent on revenue generating projects, goods and services.The Strategic Sourcing Manager also analyses the day to day operations of The Group and through extensive process re-engineering, change management and compliance with global best practice would provide advice and solutions on how to further reduce costs and/or make the bank's internal processes efficient and cost effective by implementing new projects, goods and/services. These initiatives create a high morale/low attrition work force that is more productive, less stressed and less likely prone to illness. The overall corporate culture therefore is affected, making the company a better place to work for employees, creating a warmer atmosphere for customers and of course better group-wide financial performance .
