Parent Coordinator:Assist families in many ways such as:Providing information about family relationships, separation and connecting people with services that are appropriate for their individual needsAssessing for suitability for Family Dispute Resolution where parents/families can discuss issues relating to their children and develop parenting plans that are in the best interests of their childrenAssisting parents and families to work towards improving their communication and reducing their conflictAssisting parents with enhancing knowledge and skills to assist both themselves and their children with separation issuesProviding child-focussed and child-inclusive practices and assisting parents to focus on the needs of childrenMums and Dads Forever focuses on assisting families to reduce conflict and develop more positive ways to communicate so that children are not "caught in the middle". The program helps parents understand how conflict impacts children and young people so that parents can support their children through the separation process.Run over eight two-hour group sessions, the program covers:The separation processManaging emotionsConflict management and effective communicationImpact of separation and conflict on childrenSetting boundariesUnderstanding oneself and own and children's needsParents do not attend the group with their former partners.The program also offers short term individual counselling to parents who have attended or are attending the group program. The counsellors are highly qualified, professional staff who are experienced in working with families and have a good knowledge of family separation.

The Life Skills program is not a clinical treatment program with a clearly definedscope, format or length. Instead, it consists of a number of ‘modules’ dealing with: Dealing with change – how your mind works and why you think the way to d, improve your thought patterns and your attitude, change your future, goal setting and community service signpostingRelationships – Understanding how to develop good relationships and learning to accept people as they are, will help you to reconnect with people after you leave prison. We teach you to recognise negative elements of your relationships and how to create a balanced life.Communication – Learning how to deal with conflict. Covering the different ways people communicate and different styles to speaking and listening, conflict techniquesHealth – Understanding the range of decisions you can make to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy is covered here. Discussing exercise, healthy eating, preparing food on a budget and relaxation techniques. Money – Understanding your attitude to money and where that comes from will help you to see the difference between needs, wants and obligations. We help you to identify your own spending habits and how to make money last longer. You’ll learn how to set a weekly spending plan and how to set and achieve financial goals. We also cover information on credit cards and interest free loans. Accommodation – Finding and keeping somewhere to live can be a big challenge when you leave prison. You’ll learn about tenants’ rights and responsibilities, how to access public and private housing, crisis accommodation that is available and how to access government funded rental bonds. Finding a job – You will learn some practical skills like how to develop a resume, how to handle an interview and where to find jobs. We also help you to develop an achievable career goal and an action plan to get to that goal. How to talk about your conviction with potential employers is also covered.

Lifeline works closely with communities and localities, and produces educative and digital material designed to encourage access to help. We also work to educate professionals in allied sectors and the general public on substance misuse.
