I was born very premature at 26wks in the late 80s and cared for by Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH). I wasn’t expected to live weighing just 1lb 6oz. Without their help I wouldn’t be here today. After leaving school in 2006 I trained as a children’s nurse at London Southbank University as I wanted to give something back to GOSH for saving my life. For personal reasons I didn’t qualify and left in 2009.After leaving university I began working as a paediatric healthcare assistant both community and hospital based in Kent and Great Ormond street, where I got to achieve my dream of giving back. I specialised in paediatric respiratory medicine. I cared for tracheostomy ventilated children with long term complex health needs. Alongside this, in my own time, I completed by Ba Hons degree in Health and Social Care with the Open University, graduating in 2018. In 2018 I left GOSH to settle down, and plan my wedding. It was at this time I began my career with the Coroner service in Kent. I became a Coroners investigation officer Team Leader in 2020 until 2022. I then relocated to Hampshire to work in Winchester Coroner office. I have specific interests in suicide prevention, mental health, child death and bereavement, but enjoy all aspects of my job immensely. Due to family circumstances I chose to protect my mental health and in August 2023 took my career in a different direction as a children and families support worked for fostering and adoption.
