Executive DirectorVirginia Is For Children Feb 2014 - PresentThe focus of Virginia is for Children is upon the necessary bond of mother and child(ren). The organization advocates, educates, and provides the latest research on the hurdles that battered mothers and children face when navigating through the American system of government agencies; nonprofit organizations; professionals, including GALs, custody evaluators, family law attorneys, and other professionals assigned to contested cases; and local courtrooms. We collaborate with other organizations serving women and children who have been victims of domestic violence and/or child sexual assault. We conduct legislative correspondences and meetings to inform legislators of issues that arise from our constituents who try to navigate the various organizations and government agencies in the family law process when the breakdown of the family unit has been caused due to domestic violence or child sexual assault. We develop lawyer networks of family law attorneys and legal options for battered mothers. We also develop Court Watch programs in local counties and cities in Virginia to ensure judicial accountability in legal proceedings involving battered mothers and children, including divorce and child custody cases.

English Language Arts Facilitator/Chair & Site Testing Coordinator (Stc) Richmond Technical CenterRichmond Public Schools Apr 2012 - PresentRichmond, VaDeveloped syllabus and overall course structure, and administered all grades. Classes administered in self-directed online format, utilizing Edgenuity, an online course curriculum program in which students can complete course requirements for graduation at their own pace. The Performance Learning Center is one of a kind national model between Richmond Public Schools and Communities in Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the academic, social, personal, psychological, and professional success of all students, particularly those in inner city schools and those who have experienced numerous ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) that may interfere with academic performance, such as child abuse or neglect, trauma, domestic violence, homelessness, extreme poverty, abandonment, unemployment of family members (parents), alcoholism, drug abuse, etc. We teach students who have fallen behind their peers due to reasons other than academic capability, such as chronic absenteeism, violence, fighting, or nonengagement. Our program helps to graduate students who would otherwise become high school drop-outs. Our program is highly successful, and we turn approximately 90% of our students lives around----from becoming high school drop-outs to college and/or career-ready students. Many of our students go on to community colleges, 4-year colleges, or technical jobs for which they have been trained through our tech classes. I teach the kids British and American literature, English grammar, communications, and business writing. I am also responsible for getting all of my students to pass their End-of-Course Reading and Writing Virginia SOLs. -
