I am an enthusiastic practitioner that believes individualised support is key to developing confidence and thus achievement. SUPPORT-CONFIDENCE-ACHIEVEMENT is our mantra.I have specialist teacher status and am the founder of Diverse-Learners and have 30+ years of experience in the field of inclusion and disability. I am currently working one day a week in partnership with Derbyshire Community Healthcare Services NHS Trust on a two year project regarding Reasonable Adjustments and Access to Work. I am an associate lecturer on the Return to Practice course at Plymouth University for 4 years and previously been part of the Nursing and Midwifery department inclusion and remote working projects. I have presented at numerous education and nursing conferences and was the keynote speaker for the Royal College of Nursing launch of their Neurodiversity Network. I have provided neurodiversity awareness training to Health Education England (now NHS England), Irish Nurses and Midwives Association, Royal College of Occupational Therapists, British Orthopaedics Association, Clinical Nurse Educators Network, GOSH and more than 25 other NHS Trusts. I am a presented on number for occasion workshops for Dyspraxia Foundation, Dyspraxia Ireland.I have been published in education and nursing journals. I am a reviewer and IAB member for Nursing Education in Practice and co-edited a special issue on neurodiversity and healthcare education in 2018 with Dr Jane Wray. I have worked in partnership with the Workforce Disability Equality Standard (NHS Employers) on a set of podcasts recording work lived experiences of disabled employees of the NHS called "A Conversation With..."Our YouTube channel is home to Dyspraxia Tips for Adults where we have our chatty vlogs sharing our personal experiences and tips. To expand the training opportunities, provide information and signpost resources for dyslexia specialists to improve their skill set and confidence in using Assistive Technology.As Assisitive Technology Officer for the Association of Dyslexia Specialists (aDShe) in HE I wanted to explore how Assistive Technology companies and aDShe could work together to meet the needs of our members many of whom were under-confident in using AT with their students. By analysing feedback from members I decided to develop links with Assistive Technology companies to develop a new training programmes to meet the needs of a variety of aDShe members as well as the individual aims of the AT companies..Collaborated with Sonocent to develop a training portal for audionotetaker exclusively for aDShe members focusing on developing study Skills Tutors and quality assurance. A collaboration with Notetalker developed a quality assured training package for dyslexia study skills tutors via regional groups and webinars and drafting ideas for training packages with Worked closely with Inspiration mind mapping software to adapt training to meet the needs of specialist tutors.
