Shiatsu is a non-invasive therapy, meaning ‘Finger Pressure’ in Japanese. It works with acu-points, meridians, skeletal and muscular structures of the body. It restores balance, energy and physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing; based on ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine, it supports the body to heal itself.Our body has 12 energy meridians or pathways which relate to our internal organs. The energy or ‘Qi’ within these meridians can become blocked, stagnated and imbalanced, which can manifest as physical pain or external symptoms. The practitioner may also assess the client’s structural posture and incorporate this into the treatment. The treatment will include a combination of dynamic, structural movements and muscle energy work as well as slow, focused techniques which bring the body back to alignment and balance.
