My career has been primarily focused in health care. I earned my bachelors degree in finance from Marquette University, Milwaukee Wisconsin. I was hired by The Breakers, a subsidiary of Flagler Systems, Inc. located in Palm Beach, Florida for my first job after graduation. There I was responsible for the hotel's monthly financial audits covering revenue, cash, and procurement cycles. I also was responsible for assisting the external auditors in their annual review of The Breakers' financial statements and pension plan. My second place of employment is currently at Aurora Health Care. For 25 years I was responsible for assisting the external auditors with their annual review of Aurora's financial statements including A-133 and various benefit plans covering pension, 401k, 403b and short-term disability plans. In addition, I specialized in identifying qualifed capital for Aurora's debt financing projects. For the last several years I've moved on to the revenue cycle and manage Aurora's recovery audits for both Medicare and Medicaid. After 2 years, my role expanded to include managing all Aurora's government contractor audits such as CERTS, SMRCs and ADRs/medical reviews.
