Acted as general counsel and handled all litigation and transactional legal affairs for a large, international engineering/construction company operating in the oil and gas development sector (annual volume $500 million), including, contract drafting, negotiations, claims, employment matters, contract review and dispute resolution, litigation, joint venture and operating agreements. Provided legal expertise on all Company-related matters as well as coordination of Company litigation for all international offices (Houston, Nigeria, Mexico, Singapore, Bahrain, Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia). Extensive worldwide travel. Drafted and negotiated all contracts and operating agreements for the company as well as handled and coordinated the work of other counsel on litigation matters.

Various Duty Stations

Active duty for six years as a pilot of the A-4F jet aircraft. Accumulated over 2,500 flight hours with 1,700 missions. Pilot instructor for advanced jet fighter tactics, advanced low level weapons delivery, air-to-air combat training, and carrier landings. Numerous reserve pilot billeted squadron assignments (NAS Alameda, NAS Whidbey Island and ADMINSUPU Bahrain with last assignment as Project Manager with Naval Air Systems Command, Alexandria, Virginia. Retired in November, 1991 after 22 years of active duty and reserves with the rank of Lt. Commander.

Concentrated on construction and engineering cases including claims preparation, contract review, contract drafting and litigation (trial practice) in both federal and state courts systems. Extensive client contact with construction and engineering firms. Represented over 25 major construction and engineering firms, sureties and owners.

Bahrain/Singapore

Responsible for project management for over 25 major construction projects averaging $50 million each involving the installation of over 70 offshore platforms and pipelines. These projects included steel fabrication, mobilization of offshore equipment and installation of offshore structures, including platforms, decks and subsea pipeline spools. Specific responsibilities included progress reporting and scheduling, design, take-offs and material procurement coordination, cost estimating and control, claims documentation, change order management, contract negotiations, contract drafting, project management and general interface between the customer, Brown & Root, the design engineer and other contractors.
