Kerry David began her career in film at Paramount Pictures, gaining a strong foundation in business affairs and studying the contract side of the entertainment industry. She then worked with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman for three years, learning all aspects of physical production on projects that include, Mission Impossible 2, Eyes Wide Shut (under the legendary Stanley Kubrick), Practical Magic and The Blue Room.Kerry has since built a diverse and award-winning portfolio as a writer, director, producer, and fundraiser for films that include, Agent Cody Banks 1 & 2 (MGM), Like Dandelion Dust (Fox), The Journey Ahead, Perfect Romance, 'Round Miles (HBO), Bill Coors: The Will to Live, My Date with Drew (Blockbuster), Seeking Happily Ever After (Lionsgate) and Breaking Their Silence: Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War, prompting an invitation to speak at TEDx sharing insights, which she titled, “The Last Five Minutes.” Her award-winning work consistently blends creativity with a deep understanding of the film industry, which she utilizes as a consultant, in-between projects.In 2001, Kerry founded Indieproducer.net, a platform educating emerging filmmakers across 130 countries, growing to 86,000 members by the time she sold the company. The platform became known for its inclusive and vibrant offline events and annual sold-out awards galas at the WGA Theatre in Beverly Hills.From 2010-2013, Kerry took a meaningful hiatus from filmmaking to establish an orphanage, a musical village for children, in Ghana, west Africa. An experience she describes as one of the most rewarding of her life. Upon her return to the film industry, she expanded her coaching impact by adding an official consulting arm to her production company, KDC and Films.In 2015, Kerry founded the non-profit OverandAboveAfrica.com, dedicated to funding projects that protect and defend endangered species in Africa, and supporting the communities they impact. In 2024 O&AA's funded projects grew in scale to include a brand new Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Kerry’s current project, Open Secret, is a powerful documentary exposing systemic discrimination and child sexual abuse dating back decades in a NC school district. Focusing on the community’s courage to challenge generational corruption, which had allowed for predators to thrive and a handful of heroic residents who battled for justice and accountability. Kerry's won 79 awards for filmmaking, with a global box office that exceeds $90 million, she continues to embody her mantra: “Enlightenment through entertainment.”
