PhD Candidate in the Dynamics of Human Motion Laboratory led by Drs. Janie Astephen Wilson and Cheryl Hubley-Kozey. Determining how gait biomechanics, muscle activation patterns, and physical activity interact in knee osteoarthritis structural and clinical progression.

Masters student in the Kevin P. Granata Biomechanics Laboratory directed by Dr. Michael Madigan. Investigation of the relationships between age, obesity, impaired balance, and increased risk of falls. Use of a Vicon motion capture system, force plates, electromyography, and musculoskeletal models.

Investigation of the movement patterns, muscle activity, and self-reported pain involved in the sit-to-stand functional test for arthritic patients, using preferred and alternate strategies of standing from a chair, and comparison to normal control subjects, in order to observe adaptations made by the arthritic subjects and the relationship between pain and joint contact force in arthritic subjects. Experience using Optotrak, electromyography, Kistler and custom force plates, a dynamometer, inverse dynamics and musculoskeletal modeling of the knee. Volunteer at secondary school (Mendelcollege, Haarlem, the Netherlands) giving extra tuition in math and physics, practicing conversation skills with English language classes, and giving special presentations on biomechanics, green engineering, study abroad, and careers in engineering to gifted students and faculty members.
