Curriculum Supervisor Of Mathematics
Math Coach/Intervention Specialist
• Support teachers in providing Response to Intervention (RTI) Tier 1 interventions in their classrooms through weekly observations and feedback aligned to their yearly student and professional goals.• Increase collaboration between the two middle schools through weekly meetings with the other math coach and department chair to create shared agendas for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Curriculum Meetings, end of unit common assessments, and alignment on teacher observations.• Facilitate weekly math PLC meetings, including topics such as formative assessment, types of questioning, analysis of a teaching video clip, and creating a culture of collaboration amongst staff. • Provide RTI Tier 2 interventions to regular education students by teaching Math Lab, a course I redesigned to asses and address students’ misconceptions from previous years of mathematics. • Support Special Education and English Language Learner teachers in developing interventions, including vocabulary development, one-on-one teaching, in-classroom support, and reference sheets to be used on assessments. • Create professional development sessions for math teachers using theories, activities, and ideas learned at conferences such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) “Supporting Students’ Productive Struggle” event. • Collect and analyze student data, including MCAS scores, diagnostic scores, and beginning of the year skills assessments, which I then present to teachers, using visual representations of trends, to build teacher capacity to address student needs. • Build trust and collaboration amongst math staff by being transparent and clearly communicating expectations. For example, using solicited teacher feedback through anonymous google forms I share the common trends in terms of positives, deltas, and where they can expect improvements.
