I believe the events industry is a key element to driving success in the business world today. Identifying clear aims and objectives, together with the right target audience, capitalises on the return on investment that events deliver. Engaging with the wider impacts derived from an event can also support companies in achieving an improved positive image for all of its stakeholders. Throughout my career, events have had a significant presence within every role I have undertaken, from a departmental committee at a London law firm to a showcase event in South Devon College. Working nationally with organisations from large corporations, to small not-for-profits, the challenges are what drive me to produce creative and dynamic solutions. I believe that event consultants’ should not simply be measured by how glamorous, high profile or even the revenue events generate but by how challenges are met and managed. The significance of an event evaluation can never be underestimated, not only as a process of continual improvement, but also identify event opportunities that may not have otherwise been recognised. To support my events management experience, I recently fulfilled the personal ambition of studying for a degree, graduating from Plymouth University with a first-class honours in Event Management in 2016. This also gave me the opportunity to further establish my event management credentials having being given the opportunity to manage a convention that was the first of its kind to Exeter, and now features annually on the city’s event calendar. Transparency is crucial to any business relationship and my calm and engaging personality instils trust, confidence and reassurance both in my professional and personal life. Regular client feedback such as “playing such a pivotal part of an incredibly well designed and successful event” and “producing a great atmosphere for such diverse crowds” are demonstrative of my professionalism and client engagement.In March 2019 I embarked on an amazing life experience with an opportunity by Supporting Nepal’s Children to trek to Everest Base Camp. As a small team of 9, we forged friendships, embraced Nepali cultures, experienced the Sherpa way of life, trekked the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas and successfully realised my ambition, raising money for a local charity along the way.
