Birmingham Community Matters (BCM) is a charity supporting people who would like to start, run or grow their community group or voluntary project. BCM offers peer learning through 1-1s, small group meet-ups and themed webinars.BCM's core team and trustees are experienced in running successful, long-term community groups and charities, and if there's something you'd like to know / would like help on, BCM are likely to be able to help - or if they don't have direct experience, they will find someone else who does, and collectively learn so that knowledge can be shared to help more people.Outside of work, I volunteer extensively in my community and this experience informs the work that I do for BCM. I've got stuck in with various tasks; applying systems thinking to adapt and streamline some of BCM's internal processes and approaches, including implementing the use of online project management and working to develop a new website.At BCM I've worked on; - Visual identity and graphic design- Supporting events and enquiries- Consulting on Service Design and the helpee user journey- and more recently, project managing and producing the Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit: Local Visions for Birmingham City Council's Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit. I’m really proud to be part of a growing organisation which, at its very core, is set up to help people and places that are meaningful to them.

My design career started at international educational publishers Pearson, and I have contracted within the NHS. Not only is it in my nature to design things clearly and with accessibility in mind - it’s in my training and experience. Sustainability is at the heart of every project I take on. Where possible, I won’t work on projects detrimental to the environment, and I will always explore sustainable finishes. I will recommend longer-lasting, quality design, over single-use. I design for the long term, creating design work to last.
