As a core member of the staff I am the head trainer. Due to high turnover, I have experienced training over 35 people and working alongside a variety of personalities with efficiency.

The Lydia Taft House is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility for older adults. During my level II fieldwork at this facility, I worked hands on performing evaluations, interventions, treatment plans, client/caregiver education and family/staff meetings. I worked alongside COTAs, PTs, PTAs, nursing, social workers and activity directors. Working at a nursing home was very fulfilling because I was able to use my creativity and interpersonal skills to make treatment fun and effective. I was able to treat a variety of diagnoses (physical and mental) and not only help the clients during their time at the facility, but after they were discharged through education, handouts and family involvement.

During my level II fieldwork at Washburn House, I believe that I made a great impact on many of the clients’ lives. I created and implemented client centered, evidence based, discussion and hands on group sessions each day. In these group sessions, I educated clients on various coping skills, leisure opportunities, social skills, routine modifications and the importance of support systems for ceasing substance use. I was also able to implement the use of many standardized assessments that were utilized to guide my individual treatment sessions and obtain more covered services for individuals. One of my favorite parts of this fieldwork was the opportunity to design and create a sensory integration room. This room has been utilized as a safe space for meetings, emotional regulation and exploration of coping strategies.
