In Feb 2014 my PhD thesis 'An Ethnography of “Amazonian Shamanism” in Britain: An Examination of the Migration of Spiritual and Healing Practices Native to Amazon Communities.' was approved. It is available for your perusal here:https://insight.cumbria.ac.uk/id/eprint/7745/This experience has allowed me to develop a range of transferable skills and to demonstrate that I can manage large projects and produce high-caliber outputs. It has shown me how resilient I can be and how tenacious I am in the face of adversity. The thesis is an ethnography of 'Amazonian shamanism' (curandeirismo) in the UK. In it, I performed 11 semi-structured interviews and thematically analyzed the resulting 11 hours of qualitative data they produced. This provided a thorough understanding of this nascent subculture that has formed in the UK. My aim is to forge a successful academic career that merges both teaching and research. I am currently looking for visiting/guest lecturer, and research opportunities that will benefit from my expert knowledge of ethnography, Native Amazonian rituals, psychedelic substances, medical anthropology, qualitative research methods, applied research ethics, and/or criminology.
