About Kerry Thompson

Combining my passions and strengths provides diversity to my career and has allowed me to build a unique skill set as both an event manager and a policy advisor.I’ve held several leadership positions at major multi-sport events where mass management and stakeholder engagement with volunteers, staff, government, and non-profits has been required. Having worked at grassroots levels with the community on regional events, to international positions working on planning and logistics with people from all backgrounds and languages, I thrive on building relationships and bringing people together in a strong team environment. My strong attention to detail, foresight of risk, and solution-based planning created a natural transition into policy, ensuring meticulous and accurate data provision for advocacy and correspondence with senior levels of government.Being raised in a farming community, my passion is to create a fair and just place in the food supply chain for Australian farming families. I was proud to return to the Mallee, where I worked closely with horticultural growers to research and advocate their needs to federal and state parliament – from within and outside of government.Working across an expanse of organisational structures has grown my level of business acumen; my natural curiosity in understanding the bigger picture and ensuring strategy aligns with purpose enables me to understand where we can really make a difference. Honesty and transparency are values that I regard highly in the workplace, matched with strong communication and leading by example. A positive team culture is where I thrive.
