In this in-house position I am responsible for overseeing the communication plans for Ben & Jerry’s five key markets in Europe.In the role I get to spread the word about Ben & Jerry’s unique three-part Mission Statement, which includes the Social Mission, the area of the organisation which seeks to actively recognise the central role that business plays in society. Ben & Jerry's was founded in 1978 in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, USA, by childhood friends who dedicated themselves to peace, love and ice cream. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield started their ice cream careers with a shared $5 ice cream making correspondence course from Penn State University and a $12,000 investment ($4,000 of which was borrowed). They soon became popular in the local community for their innovative flavours, made from fresh Vermont milk and cream, and large portions of chunks, swirls & whatever ingredients they felt like trying in a flavour! While they both disagreed at times over flavour combinations, what they both agreed on was that they were in this business to enjoy themselves, and give back to the community. As Jerry put it "If it's not fun, why do it?". Ben & Jerry’s has a rich heritage of standing for equality and social justice, with Marriage Equality, Give A Fudge (about democracy) and the Peace Pop just some of the campaigns they’ve championed in the last 38 years.

I have returned to Media Trust as Head of PR.In the new role, I will be responsible for delivering the PR on all services across Media Trust including the Community Channel television channel.The remit includes securing media coverage across consumer, trade and online outlets, and leading high profile PR campaigns and corporate comms projects that meet the vision and mission of Media Trust. Also responsible for establishing and driveing strategic PR partnerships with charities, media and corporate companies.

Reporting to the Director of Communications lead on the delivery of the PR and Public Affairs activity for Media Trust. Our corporate members include BBC, Sky, Channel 4, Daily Mail and General Trust, Disney Channel UK, Guardian Media Group, IPC Media, MTV Networks UK and Ireland, News International, OMD, Virgin Media TV and Warner Bros.We work with media organisations and charities to enhance their communications and enable communities to find their voice and make it heard. We offer a broad range of marketing and communications resources and training, free professional support from media volunteers and mentors, film and content production, funding for media projects, and the national digital TV and online channel, Community Channel.
