After years of work experience at various companies, my passion for retail and advertising grew to the extent that I decided to open my own advertising and marketing agency. In 2019 I founded Kong Republic, a full-service agency that seamlessly integrates both traditional and digital mediums to build brands for local and international companies. Kong has worked with some of the biggest companies worldwide such as Adcock Ingram, Ogilvy, Reckitt Benckiser and Dischem, but we have also partnered with local independent retailers to increase their sales and improve their bottom line. Kong Republic differs from traditional advertising agencies because our clients can expect 360° full in-house solutions to any advertising and marketing project. We handle each aspect of every campaign ourselves, from branding, design, live recordings, video production, digital, printing and signage. By doing this, we offer a world-class standard that lowers our clients’ advertising costs while meeting all their needs effectively.

After being promoted at Ogilvy, I conceptualised and directed live TV shoots and radio ads, working with a range of designers, copywriters, photographers, and my own production teams to make sure that we brought our clients’ visions to life and helped them sell their products across the country. I eventually moved onto directing TV adverts, where I focused on more stylistic and visual aspects of high-end motion graphics advertising. Supervising large production and technical crews which included voice-over artists, 3-D artists, actors, editors, sound engineers and even social media influencers, I conceptualised and directed several large-scale ads which seamlessly integrated television and digital mediums with my clients’ 360° national campaigns. For these campaigns I received local and international recognition.

At Ogilvy, I created concepts and campaigns for print, which were then rolled out onto national television and radio. I was responsible for the visual stylings of each advertising campaign and was involved in high-end product photography, in-situation style shots and re-touching for creative campaigns in the retail division across South Africa. I also developed and worked with different brands such as Dischem, DSTV and KFC.

Durban Metropolitan Area

As a Senior Package Designer I was involved in the packaging design for well-known brands in South Africa such as Oh So Heavenly, Labello, and Clicks’ IQ beauty range. I created special dye templates, and customised packaging for beauty and body care products, as well gift set packages. I also improved user experience packaging designs for brands like Jagermeister and Mangwanani Spa. As Repro manager I supervised the complete production and manufacturing process from pre-press to post-press.

Durban Metropolitan Area

I was involved in concept design and worked to develop the creation of product brand CI’s (Corporate Identities) for the local retail market. I also designed basic product user experiences and point-of-sale displays for product merchandising, which helped improve overall product quality and sales performance

I initially worked as a Junior Designer doing product label design for popular FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) brands in South Africa. I was soon promoted, and began to design and supervise high-volume label jobs, as well as the creation of product concepts and marketing campaigns.
