Kersten is a native of Michigan and a graduate of Western Michigan University where she played four years of soccer on a scholarship. After having 23 years too many of long, cold winters she decided to move to Raleigh, North Carolina. It was there, oddly enough, that she landed a gig with an up and coming marketing company based in Chicago, IL. As a member of a 20 person ‘Experiential Marketing’ team, she was paired up with one other person and travelled the country in a branded H2 Hummer (before they were deemed environmentally evil) promoting Verizon Wireless. It was on that tour that she fell in love with marketing and branding and hasn’t looked back since. The tour opened up doors for a second tour and ultimately working with other nationally recognized brands. She finally settled down in a city that instantly felt like home, Charlotte, NC where she gained more experience working as marketing managers and directors on the client side. In 2011 she started The Agency Marketing Group and along with her business partner has grown The Agency to an 8-person team working with local, regional, national and recently global clients. Her experience of having worked both sides of the table gives her a unique insight on how to develop successful campaigns for clients. She specializes in creative concepts; overall strategy, campaign development and she is super-attentive and responsive when it comes to client management.
