About Keshav Khanijow

Dr. Keshav Khanijow (pronouns: he/him/his) is a Physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with a proven record of research and advocacy for LGBTQ+ health.After completing a research fellowship at the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Office of Women’s Health, he attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he helped co-lead the UCSF LGBTQ+ Health Forum (2011, 2012) and create HIV prevention materials for an LGBTQ+ Rights NGO in Ecuador, Equidad (2014). He then completed residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC, 2014-2017), followed by a fellowship in Hospital Medicine at JHBMC (2017-2018).Dr. Khanijow works as a hospitalist, diagnosing and treating patients that are admitted to the hospital and ensuring safe discharge planning. He has a record of clinical excellence, winning the distinguished JHBMC Hospital Medicine Clinical Excellence Award (2019), and later the JHBMC Hospitalist of the Year Award (2022). Dr. Khanijow has a passion for LGBTQ+ Health and wanted to ensure that LGBTQ+ patients admitted to the hospital were receiving equitable care. He partnered with the national Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) to create LGBTQ+ Health education for inpatient providers, a topic which he has now lectured on internationally. In addition, he has published in peer-reviewed journals about Transgender Health in the inpatient setting. Dr. Khanijow serves as the JHBMC Hospital Medicine Division Director of Patient Safety, and as Chair of the SHM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Special Interest Group.
