As Area Manager I still fee earned and had an accident inspecting a BS on 23rd April, 2012. Managed to shatter T7,T8, & T12, plus hairline to two in my kneck. With the damage done I am so lucky to be alive. I could not work, lost mobility, had mobility scooter, 28 pain killers a day, including 80mg morphine, 800mg tramadol, I continued to deteriorate, sometimes 3 hours bed rest. Finally after 4 years of asking was referred to Neurosurgeon, my T7 was split into three, unstable and entering my spinal chord. Vertebrectomy, cage, plating, spinal fusion T6-T8, was scheduled and for 9 hours of surgery 23rd Feb 2017. Very risky but I’d be in a wheelchair very soon if I hadn’t. So on 1st October 2018 I returned to e.Surv. 6 1/2 years on sick leave to come to an end. Met Bridget HR and Paul OD North, it'll be good to be back. I join L & D team as Technical Trainer. New challenge to match a new life. I started managing contracts at 18. At 23 being team leader of construction team (including consultants etc) 1 Million pound contract in 1979 was a massive contract. May be not now, but this was 40 years ago 😀 Attained MCIAT the same year. In 1993 I gained my RICS by direct entry, correspondence course, diary of experience,direct entry exam then professional interview both passed first time, MRICS Building Surveyor. Was I relieved 18 months heavy reading correspondence course, 3 day residential intensive prep for exam and with a family with two young children. So MRICS MCIAT. Nearly 25 years @ esurv, Ladder etiquette everyone "what I say" not what I do 😀My last cohort was 2023 and would be AssocRICS by April 2024. But Ashley Harry and Andy McIvor had other ideas. They said my cognitive ability was impaired. We’re they Neurologists No. My Neurologist said my executive and cognitive ability was not impaired. Even Bridget Charlton was not on my side. I have AssocRICS 67 registered by e.surv.
