Sqyre was a very fun but challenging business to start. We used my previous ecommerce experience and my brothers stellar graphic design skills to launch a liquor delivery platform just as iOS apps became all the rage. Here I learned valuable lessons in problem solving- missed developer deadlines, expensive delivery drivers, app glitches - we had to come up with solutions all the time, even if that meant delivering orders ourselves. We realized that in order to be successful in the space it didn’t make sense to be a middle-man with razor thin margins. We became a strategic acquisition for Pink Dot - the company that started on demand delivery way back in the 80s!Most Challenging Part: Delivering the first 100 orders myself, regardless of where I was or what I was doing.

Probably my biggest accomplishment so far was starting and selling Greek Life Inc. I started this business my senior year of college with a buddy living in our Fraternity house as a way to get cheaper apparel for ourselves and our friends. I had about $70 whole dollars to my name so I couldn't afford to buy a new set of letters. We got our first orders by copying 1000 paper order forms and posting them around campus. Within 4 years we had a huge warehouse with 15 employees, about $1m in sales, and a website where you could customize every part of the garment. It was tough parting with this business, but I grew disinterested in the labor side and was eager to learn more about new technologies. Most Challenging Part: Explaining to angry moms why their daughter's sorority apparel was late.

My first job - technically a paid college internship. I worked 7am-2pm so I that I could still make it to some of my classes. It was here I got my intro to sales - we sat in a cubicle but had to wear suit and tie without the jacket (I think it’s called Business Casual +). Our team was responsible for cold calling businesses and asking them if they wanted to get financing on any new equipment purchases. Not very fun. Not very creative. Some valuable skills learned in sales and finance.Most Challenging Part: Being yelled at and hung up on at 7:30 in the morning.
