Beginning in construction, an injury caused me to refocus my career options. Having always been fascinated with accounting, business management, and operations, I returned to school where I acquired the vital knowledge to help a company reach important goals.In 2010, I was privileged to join Paradise Canyon Country Club/Paradise Canyon Golf Resort Company for the next seven years where I delivered the following contributions:* COST SAVINGS: I dramatically slashed yearly auditing fees from $12,000 to just $2,500 by reducing year-end covenant requirements from an Audit to a simple Notice-to-Reader.* IMPROVEMENTS & INNOVATIONS: I teamed up with 3 department managers and 1 coordinator to brainstorm and roll out Paradise's first-ever strategic development plan. As a result, we introduced much-needed structure - complete with organizational charting, future goal-setting, asset protection, and contingency planning - in the event of unforeseen circumstances.* ACTION PLANNING: I leveraged my earlier construction background so that a $0.5MM restaurant renovation was completed on time and on budget in 2013.I thoroughly understand leadership's role in eliciting peak performance from team members. For an individual to excel, that desire must be instilled at an early age; that is why I have enjoyed mentoring teens and young adults in hockey. My pride is evident when I see that my players "get it" via:* demonstrating the confidence to make the right calls,* diplomatically responding to inevitable disputes in fast-paced environments, and* responding to a myriad of pressure-cooker situations and guarantee win/win outcomes for everyone involved.I was fortunate to be able to return tot he golf industry in 2019 after a couple of years hiatus and it confirmed my love for the industry. After a similar role at McKenzie Meadows to the one I occupied at Paradise Canyon I thought I would try my hand at the next level of management and applied for the General Manager Position at the Sirocco Golf Club.Since returning to golf I have continued to strengthen my knowledge of the business and the trends that we are seeing in the industry.Going forward, I wish to join a company where I can weave a culture of accountability and entrepreneurship, and maximize their profitability and efficiency levels.
