The imagination spark that began my journey to lead world-class design teams for a top entertainment company was watching Star Wars in the theater as a kid. I saw a dreamer who looked to the future, a leader who brought diverse people together, and a resourceful hustler getting it done. Together they became an unbeatable team and fueled my dreams. College experiences taught me creative design that worked within project constraints. After finishing my master’s degree at UCLA, I started a successful design and management career at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). I led teams in digital design and production efforts for many Disney parks and collaboratively created an industry standard digital rock work process that saved thousands of hours and millions of dollars in design and construction costs. I always moved on to new challenges at WDI. I implemented process and productivity innovations to streamline the operations of a special effects film archive and averted a film supply chain crisis that would have impacted all parks. I project managed an attraction refresh with substantial cost savings, designed a fan favorite D23 convention booth, and designed special effects for a Matterhorn update for the Disneyland 60th celebration. After the Disneyland 60th celebration, I was tapped for my dream role -- the lead special effects designer for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (SWGE) at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.I led teams of the best special effects designers in the world to create real-world magic inspired by the Star Wars films. We made laser blasts fly through the air, light sabers cut through ceilings, allowed guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon and brought alien creatures to life. We helped create an immersive world that sparks the imagination and emotions of legions of fans. I’ve accomplished so many of my dreams with creativity, hard work, inspiring the best in others, and forging unbeatable teams. I’m looking forward to using my leadership, imagination, and passion to help make the dreams of my next company come true.
